Defining a 2nd cousin twice removed.

The parents A - B of the brother & sister   this can be termed as a 0 degree of relationship

A brother & sister each get married and have children   this can be termed as a 1st degree of relationship

Those children are 1st cousins [grand children of A - B  ] to each other.  this can be termed as a 2nd degree of relationship

When that brother & sister have grand children through the marriage of their  own children

The children in this generations are 2nd cousins [ great grand children of A - B ] to each other.  this can be termed as a 3rd degree of relationship

When the brother & sister have great grand children, then those children are 3rd cousins  [ great great grand children of A - B ]   this can be termed as a 4th degree of relationship
